Road Map / how to come:

pass Fortaleza and go on the highway CE 040 heading to the south east. After about 8 km you turn on the street CE 025 direction Aquiraz. Follow the Highway about 14 km to Aquiraz and keep on staying on the CE 040. Drive further for 18km to Pindoretama. Turn left after approx 11 km direction to Caponga. Pass the village heading to the east parallel to the sea and you will reach the lagoon.

 

Next to the village of Caponga a mostly shallow lagoon arises with hide in the delta of the river “Rio mal Cozinhado”. Heading land inward the river is limited with mangroves. To the west there are some buildings and the rest of the basin is surrounded by sandy beach. The lagoon itself only develops at high tide. At low tide you need a lot of fantasy to find a way through the course of river. Offshore sand bars originated by the river obstruct the swell and cause a small standing wave. In the lagoon you will find flat water. There is a possibility to cross the river with a ferry (Balsa). The one way price is 10 R$ for an off-road. The wind blows from south to south east entirely unaffected and without any turbulence.
